About the 2010sdafrika-editorial staff
ENGLISH: The non-commercial media “SÜDAFRIKA – Land der Kontraste” – the German gateway to South Africa – is observing, reporting and analyzing occurrences from the Republic of South Africa, under inclusion of German involvement in this young democracy at Cape of Good Hope. This gateway, based on a PHP-Wordpress blog, is running by the 2010sdafrika-editorial staff, a team from Germany and South Africa. “SÜDAFRIKA – Land der Kontraste” is aiming as social targets the German-South African cultural exchange and educational work. Several personalities from the German-South African relations have answered with great interest the questions posed by the editors of this gateway.
Backgrounds, facts and opinions will be offered for the German speaking public and press institutions. In this respect, this South Africa gateway is covering five sections:
- Economy
- Politics and
- Sport.
Due to the origin of Ghassan Abid, the Managing Chief Editor of this media, we are reporting in exceptional cases to Tunisia.
Additionally we installed an English Service with articles for Non-Germans.

Über die 2010sdafrika-Redaktion
DEUTSCH: Das gemeinnützige Medium “SÜDAFRIKA – Land der Kontraste” – kurz: Südafrika-Portal – beobachtet, berichtet und analysiert Sachverhalte der Republik Südafrika, unter Einbeziehung deutschen Engagements in der jungen afrikanischen Demokratie am Kap der guten Hoffnung. Dieses Portal, gestützt auf ein PHP-Wordpress-Blog, wird von der 2010sdafrika-Redaktion betrieben, einem Team aus Deutschland und Südafrika. “SÜDAFRIKA – Land der Kontraste” verfolgt als soziale Ziele den deutsch-südafrikanischen Kulturaustausch und die politische Bildungsarbeit. Mehrere Persönlichkeiten der deutsch-südafrikanischen Beziehungen haben mit großem Interesse die Fragen der Redakteure dieses Portals beantwortet.
Hintergründe, Fakten und Meinungen werden für die deutschsprachige Leserschaft und Presseinstitutionen aufbereitet und zur Verfügung gestellt. Hierbei deckt das Südafrika-Portal fünf Ressorts ab:

- Politik und
- Sport.
In Anbetracht der Herkunft von Ghassan Abid, dem Geschäftsführenden Chefredakteur dieses Mediums, berichten wir in Ausnahmefällen zu Tunesien.

About the Chief Editor:
ENGLISH: Ghassan Abid is a blogger and graduated with a degree in political science at the Universities of Bamberg and Potsdam, in international relations (regions: Africa, the Orient) and system of the Federal Republic of Germany (federal and municipal level, integration policy) as research areas. In 2008, he absolved a commitment to work at the federally-owned enterprise “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ)“ in South Africa, which is implementing on behalf of the Federal Government in partner countries several projects in the field of development politics. In the subsequent year he participated within a voluntary service at the economic development cooperation section of the German Embassy in South Africa. Independent of these experiences, he undertook from 2009 to 2010 comprehensive field studies in Germany and South Africa, which he´s presenting since January 2010 unter the title of

to the public in the states Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Austria, Norway, Japan, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Baltic countries. Ghassan Abid is appearing in broadcasting and print media as expert for Southern Africa issues, especially for South Africa, since 2010. On 29th January 2010 he launched the gateway “SÜDAFRIKA – Land der Kontraste” and he´s leading the 2010sdafrika-editorial staff, based on his editorial experiences at the German broadcasting “rbb Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg“. Currently, Ghassan Abid is advising several media in regard to the political developments in Arab countries (TV, print and online media).
Über den Chefredakteur:
DEUTSCH: Ghassan Abid ist Blogger & studierter Diplom-Politikwissenschaftler der Universitäten Bamberg und Potsdam, mit den Schwerpunkten Internationale Beziehungen (Regionen: Afrika, Orient) und System der BRD (Bundespolitik, Kommunales, Integrationspolitik). 2008 absolvierte er einen Arbeitseinsatz im Bundesunternehmen Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH in Südafrika, welches im Auftrag der Bundesregierung entwicklungspolitische Projekte im Partnerland durchführt. Ein Jahr später war er im Rahmen eines Voluntary Service im Referat für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit an der Deutschen Botschaft Pretoria tätig. Unabhängig von diesen Erfahrungen, führte er von 2009 bis 2010 umfangreiche Feldforschungen in Deutschland und Südafrika durch, welche er ab Januar 2010 unter dem Titel:
Deutschlands Engagement in Südafrika: Staatliche und privatwirtschaftliche Interessen in Analyse zu den Theorien der IB
in den Staaten Deutschland, Großbritannien, Frankreich, Italien, Österreich, Norwegen, Japan, der Schweiz, den Niederlanden und im Baltikum der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert. Seit 2010 tritt Ghassan Abid verstärkt im Rundfunk und in Printmedien als Fachmann für Sachverhalte des südlichen Afrikas, speziell zu Südafrika, auf. Am 29.01.2010 gründete er schließlich das Portal “SÜDAFRIKA – Land der Kontraste” und leitet seither die 2010sdafrika-Redaktion, aufbauend auf seine redaktionellen Erfahrungen beim rbb Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg. Aktuell berät Ghassan Abid mehrere Medien in Bezug auf die politischen Entwicklungen im arabischen Raum (TV, Print und Online-Medien).
